Jorge Luis Blanco was born in pre-Communist Cuba, where he followed his father’s footsteps into the dental profession. However, the oppressive conditions under Communist rule led Blanco to seek a new beginning in the United States alongside his family.
Arriving in the U.S. without a valid American dental license or fluency in English, Blanco faced formidable challenges. Yet, driven by unwavering determination, he persevered. Despite initial struggles, Blanco worked tirelessly to support his family, eventually enabling his children to pursue higher education.
Inspired by his son Kemel’s admission to the Kornberg School of Dentistry, Blanco embarked on a transformative journey. In 2002, he completed the rigorous Advanced Standing Program for Internationally Trained Dentists, earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine. Returning to Miami, Blanco obtained his Florida dental license and established the thriving Blanco Jamis Dental Group, which has since become one of South Florida’s premier family dental practices.
A testament to his dedication and passion for dentistry, Blanco’s sons, both Temple-educated, joined him in expanding the practice. Together, they continue to uphold a tradition of excellence in dental care. Reflecting on his journey, Blanco emphasizes that true success transcends material wealth, embodying the pursuit of goals despite adversity.
“For us, dentistry is more than a profession; it’s our family’s legacy,” Blanco affirms with pride, epitomizing the spirit of perseverance and achievement.
